 Erika Ramirez has been a full spectrum indigenous doula since 2020, dedicated to supporting families with compassionate, holistic care throughout every stage of the reproductive journey. As one of the pioneers in the Medi-Cal doula program for Orange County, Erika has been a strong advocate for doula coverage and has worked closely with CalOptima to bring much-needed services to her community.  

 Erika’s dedication to her community goes beyond providing exceptional doula services. Her commitment is rooted in a deep understanding of the social, cultural, and economic challenges faced by many families in her community. Here’s how she demonstrates her unwavering commitment:

1. Advocacy for Doula Coverage: Erika has been a vocal advocate for doula services to be covered by insurance, recognizing the financial barriers that many families face. Her efforts with the Medi-Cal doula program in Orange County have been instrumental in making these services accessible to more families, ensuring that everyone has the support they need during pregnancy and childbirth.

2. Collaboration with CalOptima: By working closely with CalOptima, Erika has helped bridge the gap between healthcare providers and the community. This collaboration ensures that the specific needs of families are met, and that they receive high-quality care that respects their cultural backgrounds and personal preferences.

3. Community Education and Outreach: Erika actively participates in community education and outreach programs to raise awareness about the benefits of doula support.
